If you asked me what I remember most about Brownie camp, you’d probably expect me to say the activities, the badges, or the adventures.
Instead, my brain immediately goes:
🥣 Honey Loops.
I discovered Honey Loops at a Brownie residential when I was about nine years old, and apparently that was such a significant life event that my brain decided to keep the memory forever.
But honestly, when I think about Brownie camp, I remember so much more than cereal.
I remember sleeping in dorm rooms and feeling incredibly grown-up. I remember the excitement of being away from home. I remember karaoke nights where nobody cared whether they could sing. I remember the laughter, the friendships, and that magical feeling that everything was an adventure.
One year, my birthday happened while I was away at camp. The leaders surprised me with a cake, and I still remember how special that made me feel. It’s funny how the moments that stay with us aren’t always the big ones — sometimes they’re simply the moments when somebody makes you feel seen.
Looking back now, Brownie camp feels like one of those golden childhood memories. A place where the days felt longer, the worries felt smaller, and discovering a new favourite cereal counted as a major life achievement.
And honestly?
It kind of was. 💖🥣🏕️
What childhood camp, club, or school trip do you still remember all these years later?
