We got the best of both worlds honestly.
As kids in the 90s:
📼 VHS tapes
📺 Saturday morning TV rituals
🎮 PS1 loading screens that took approximately 4 working days
🖍 Gel pens, Tamagotchis, Polly Pockets, inflatable chairs
📞 House phones with cords long enough to reach another postcode
💿 Buying actual CDs and reading the little lyric booklets
Then as teens in the 00s:
💻 MSN Messenger chaos
📱 Motorola Razrs + Nokia bricks
📸 Blurry digital camera photos uploaded in albums called “girlies xxxxx”
🎵 LimeWire viruses for ONE song
🩷 Side fringes so dramatic we couldn’t see out one eye
✨ Bebo skins, MySpace songs, glitter graphics everywhere
And the music?? Unmatched.
Girls Aloud, JLS, S Club 7, Cascada, cheesy club songs, Disney Channel bangers, music channels playing in the background 24/7…
Honestly we grew up in the perfect transition era:
old enough to remember life before social media took over,
young enough to enjoy the chaotic early internet before everything became algorithms and personal branding. 🤣
We didn’t know it at the time, but we were absolutely living through a golden era. 💖
