Where nostalgia meets chaos, and Daisy won’t shut up about it

Why the “Bug” Era Was the Best Era of CBBC 🐛📺

If you grew up during the CBBC bug era, congratulations — your childhood was basically controlled chaos.

That little green bug wasn’t just a logo. It was a lifestyle.

Everything about that era felt unhinged in the BEST possible way:

  • weird sound effects
  • random animations
  • presenters acting like escaped zoo animals
  • absolute fever dream energy between shows

Kids TV back then didn’t feel polished or corporate. It felt like older siblings had been left alone with editing software and too much sugar.

One minute you were watching Tracy Beaker, the next Dick and Dom were screaming “BOGIES,” Basil Brush was causing chaos, and some announcer was climbing through the screen dressed as a banana for absolutely no reason.

And somehow… it worked perfectly.

The CBBC bug era also had PEAK after-school vibes. You’d come home, dump your school bag on the floor, grab a snack, and instantly hear that iconic CBBC voiceover. Suddenly everything felt safe, silly, and exciting again.

Honestly, modern kids TV could never.
The bug era raised a generation of weird kids with elite humour and immaculate nostalgia taste. 🫡
