Salt-Only Chips, Vimto & The Death Slide™: A Soft Play Survival Story

There are some things that instantly take you back…
and for me, it’s Vimto and a tray of chips.

Not fancy chips. Not gourmet.
Soft play chips.

Slightly overcooked. Too hot at first.
Served in a little plastic tray like you’d just completed a marathon.

And me?

Salt only. No ketchup. No sauce. Just vibes.

I don’t remember every detail of soft play.

But I remember Kidz Kingdom.

And I remember The Death Slide™.

You know the one.

Too high. Too steep.
The kind of slide where you climb up, look down, and immediately think:

absolutely not.

Other kids behind you like:

“GO!!!”

And you’re just stood there, questioning everything 😭

Soft play was chaos.

Climbing frames, tunnels, static electricity doing the absolute most.
Running around like your life depended on it.

And then…

You’d come back down.

Out of breath. Hair everywhere. Fully in your feral era.

And there it was:

👉 A cup of Vimto
👉 A tray of chips

Peak happiness.

There was something about that moment.

Sitting down for a minute, mid-play, just existing.
Everything felt simple. Safe. Fun.

No responsibilities. No overthinking.
Just:

play → pause → chips → back to chaos

I might not remember everything about Kidz Kingdom.

But I remember how it felt.

And honestly?

That’s the part that sticks.
