It happened when I saw a TikTok caption that said, “Y2K is officially vintage now 💅✨.” I thought, oh cute — like 70s or 80s vintage?
Then the video cut to someone proudly holding up… a Motorola Razr. My Motorola Razr. From 2004.
That was the moment I felt my soul leave my body.

I’m not saying I’m ancient, but apparently the jeans I wore to my Year 8 disco are now “retro aesthetic.” One minute I’m pairing a sparkly halter top with butterfly clips and calling it style, the next it’s on Depop for £80 as “vintage Y2K couture.”
If anyone calls MSN “historical tech,” I’m logging off permanently.

It’s wild watching Gen Z “discover” our world like archaeologists unearthing a flip phone. Low-rise jeans, chunky belts, plastic bangles… they’re all back. And said with a straight face: “look at this vintage outfit!”
