A chaotic, sparkly trip back to the golden age of after-school telly.
Okay babes, gather round the CRT — it’s time to talk about the weirdly elite era of CBBC when after-school TV was pure ✨mayhem✨ and we loved every second.
💻 Xchange — aka the digital playground before social media existed. Emails flying in, presenters shouting over each other, the logo looking like it was designed in Microsoft Word Art Deluxe Edition™. If you remember the metallic X, you’re officially vintage internet royalty. 👑
☀️ Smile — Sunday mornings with Barney, Dev & Fearne, golden cereal-crumbed sunshine and pure comfort telly. And of course: NEV!!! our blue fluffy chaos king. He deserved his own BAFTA tbh. 🩵
😈 Stitch Up! — unhinged prank energy that no child should have witnessed but every child did. Hidden cameras, dodgy disguises, the “YOU’VE BEEN STITCHED UP!” catchphrase of the century… they even got S Club. Truly art.
It was the era of 3D graphics, custard pies, and presenters who looked like they hadn’t slept since Get Your Own Back. And we? We were THERE. 💅
What’s your deepest CBBC memory — the one that makes you feel like you just logged onto MSN after school?
