Some of my strongest nostalgia isn’t just the CDs and singles I begged for in Woolworths — it’s the tapes my mum had in the car. Take That, ABBA, Shania Twain, Boyzone… those battered cassettes were the soundtrack to every school run and weekend drive.

I can still picture sitting in the backseat, my mum belting out “Back for Good” like she was on stage at Wembley, while I secretly loved every second. Those songs weren’t just music — they were family memories, little time capsules of car rides, conversations, and the smell of strawberry Hubba Bubba mixed with petrol station air.

So yes — the ADN playlist isn’t just about our own first CDs. It’s about the music that was passed down to us too. Mum’s car tapes deserve their place. 💖
