Asten Does Nostalgia

Where nostalgia meets chaos, and Daisy won’t shut up about it

💜 Goodbye Claire’s: The End of a Glitter-Covered Era

Claire’s was more than just a shop. For a whole generation of us, it was the destination: sparkly earrings, glittery hair clips, groovy handbags, and of course… the place where we got our ears pierced.

I still remember it — sitting in the middle of a store overflowing with butterfly clips and pink fluff while two teenage staff members came at me with the piercing gun. Terrifying. Iconic. A true rite of passage.

Claire’s wasn’t about quality (half the earrings turned your ears green), it was about the experience.

  • Going in with your friends on a Saturday.
  • Spending your pocket money on plastic jewellery and lip gloss.
  • Walking out feeling like you’d just had a glow-up worthy of a music video.

Now, with bankruptcy and closures, the purple-and-pink sparkle empire is fading. And honestly? It feels like saying goodbye to a piece of our childhood.

So here’s to Claire’s — to the butterfly clips, the piercings, the chaos, and the confidence boost it gave so many of us. You might be gone, but you’ll always live on in every nostalgic jewellery box.

🌟 Daisy’s Corner

“Oh babes, Claire’s was pure mallcore chaos. Where else could you walk in for a lip gloss and leave traumatised with fresh piercings and three-for-one earrings shaped like cupcakes? Dry toast energy shops today could never. RIP to an icon — Boom Boom, butterfly clip forever.”
