Back in the 90s and 00s, the real battle wasn’t Coke vs Pepsi, Blur vs Oasis, or even N*Sync vs Backstreet Boys. No. The ultimate divide was after-school TV: CBBC or CITV?
If you grew up in the UK, you know. The second that school bell rang, it wasn’t just “homework time” — it was scramble to the sofa and grab the remote time.
Team CBBC
- Blue Peter badges were currency.
- Grange Hill taught us more about life than PSHE ever did.
- You secretly wanted to be on Raven (but also feared the Demon Heads).
- Broom Cupboard chaos. Gordon the Gopher. Otis the Aardvark. Iconic.
Team CITV
- My Parents Are Aliens was the crown jewel.
- Art Attack made us believe a Pritt Stick could change the world.
- Jungle Run was the bargain-bin Crystal Maze we all secretly loved.
- “We’ll be right back after the break!” — adverts were half the fun.
And then there were the floaters — the kids who switched depending on whether it was Tracy Beaker or Sooty & Co. on that day. Absolute chaos.
Looking back now, I can’t remember half of Year 9 maths, but I can still hum the Art Attack theme tune from memory. Priorities.
🌟 Daisy’s Corner:
“Oh babes, CBBC vs CITV wasn’t just telly — it was CULTURE. You were either learning life lessons from Raven or watching aliens adopt kids in Stockport. Honestly, Parliament should settle this once and for all. Personally? I was Team Remote Control Hog. Boom.”
👉 Were you Team CBBC or Team CITV? Or were you one of those chaotic kids who channel-hopped for the best of both?
