🖥️ The Day the TV Got Wheeled Into Class

There are few moments in school life more electric than seeing that giant, slightly wobbly TV stand being wheeled into the classroom. Instantly, the whole class went from slumped over worksheets to “OH MY GOD, WE’RE WATCHING A FILM.”

I’d start mentally placing bets on what it would be. The Lion King? Matilda? That BBC schools programme with the animated crow? Usually, it was some grainy VHS about the water cycle, narrated in a voice so dull it could put a hyper Year 7 to sleep in under two minutes.

But one glorious day, eight-year-old me hit the jackpot. We were studying the original fairy tale behind a Disney movie — so obviously, the teacher put on the Disney version for “comparison.” I was ready. This was the good stuff.

And then… before the movie started… there it was.

A Muppets short.

Now, normal kids might have been delighted. Me? Absolutely not. I was terrified of the Muppets. The moment they appeared on screen, I froze, praying for it to be over. My classmates were laughing. I was calculating the fastest way to escape the room without causing a scene.

The Disney movie eventually started, but by then the damage was done. To this day, whenever I hear Kermit’s voice, I feel like I’m eight years old again, trapped at my desk, wishing VHS tapes had a skip button.

File under: School disco energy, squeaky trolley wheels, and one very unexpected Fear Files crossover.
