Asten Does Nostalgia

Where nostalgia meets chaos, and Daisy won’t shut up about it

🎂 High School Musical Is Old Enough to Vote and I’m Old Enough to Cry About It

So apparently, 2006 was 19 years ago.
Which means that High School Musical is now old enough to vote.
Let that sink in.
Troy Bolton could legally walk into a polling station and write “Vote Sharpay” on the ballot.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting here like:

  • “Weren’t we all just updating our MSN names to ‘Asten 💖 Zac 4eva’?”
  • “Did I really make HSM fan edits on Windows Movie Maker?”
  • “Was that really 14-year-old me crying in PE because the N-Dubz kids said musicals were ‘gay’?”
    (Yes. Yes it was.)

And to make matters worse, I’m nearly 33.
Which means it’s been three whole years since my “30 and flirty and thriving” era (read: lying on the floor, sobbing over Jonas James and pre-ordered Domino’s).

Signs I’m not okay with this:

  • I still refer to birthdays as “party time, excellent” like it’s a Wayne’s World rerun
  • I refuse to delete my Bebo screenshots
  • I still know all the words to Breaking Free, Bet On It, and Fabulous (and I WILL perform all three at karaoke, don’t test me)

Daisy’s Corner:

“Age is a number. Chaos is eternal. Sharpay Evans deserved better. Also why are my knees clicking every time I stand up?”

Conclusion:

Time is fake. I’m still emotionally 14. But at least I’m owning it — birthday cake, nostalgic breakdowns, and all.
